Never fear, more acai bowl reviews are here! Sorry for the lack of updates - there has been a lot of traveling and/or travellers in the last couple weeks, but there has not been a lack of acai bowls. Did you ever doubt it? Me neither.

One of the places I had the amazing opportunity to visit of the last couple months was Kelowna, BC! The boyfriend drove us there for a quick week-end visit with my step-sister, who also appreciates acai bowls. Because this was a new spot, I had done my research on bowl spots (of course). It turns out there is only one bowl available in all of Kelowna. There is no lack of hikes, beautiful views, amazing food, or waterfront sightseeings, but there is a severe lack of acai bowl availability. I will be in touch with their mayor shortly to discuss the matter.

That's right - top-your-own-acai-bowls.

Peachwave is actually a frozen yogurt spot, but I was nary attracted to my old favourite snack. The woman working there was probably one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and I'd love to be friends with her in all honesty. She prepared our acai bowl base while we grabbed groceries - so we got to top em up as soon as we returned!

The smoothie base itself was honestly not great. I think the reason for this is that their liquid of choice is apple juice, which makes it just too sweet. Had I thought of it beforehand, I would have asked for the team to use coconut milk, which they use for their pitaya bowl - lesson learned. It also wasn't the greatest texture, being a little bit too liquidy for a bowl. Toppings sunk into the smoothie, which is kind of the opposite of what we're looking for in an acai bowl.

The concept of getting to top your own bowl is AMAZING. I had a video of my adding sprinkles (yes, s p r i n k l e s) to my bowl, but it won't work - heartbreaking. It was super fun and super delicious to get to choose what we put on the smoothies! Because we got to choose our own toppings, I can't say anything negative about 'em. I chose 'em!

Would I go back: For sure! I'd just be certain to ask for milk instead of juice. Banana rating: 6/10 (Honestly, if we hadn't been able to choose our toppings, it would have been lower.)
