I had my first taste of an acai bowl in 2016, on a trip to Boca Raton, FL. Before that first spoonful, my go-to treat had been frozen yogurt (shout out Froyo Frenzy) after a particularly hard workout, or particularly long day. So when my boyfriend first suggested we grab an acai bowl, a bowl of blended fruit instead of blended sugar, I was skeptical. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME: acai bowls are where it is at. The combination of smooth berries and crunchy toppings makes me melt. I haven't looked back since that day, but I have taken every travel opportunity as the chance to try a new acai bowl spot.

Disclaimer: I don't particularly like bee pollen on my bowls, I prefer bowls that have almond butter blended into them, and I can't consume gluten. Probably best to keep these things in mind when reading anything I've described, as everyone has different taste.
