La Juiceria Review (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

I work this wicked job that allows me to work on multiple timezones (con) and this year allowed me to travel to those timezones (pro). I was sent to Malaysia for two weeks, where I split my time between offices in two cities, but hoteled up in beautiful Kuala Lumpur. I'm a girl who was made for the heat, so this was a huge win for me. I'm also driven by career success making this a double win.

Hotel views.

While I was there for work, I did have some time to chill (thank you, weekend). I took advantage to do some sight-seeing on Saturday, but Sunday was all about that acai bowl hunt (are you surprised?). After doing some research, I decided to check out the Acai Lab. I hopped in an Uber (what seems to be the main form of transportation there) and made my way over to the Lab. LOW AND BEHOLD, IT WAS CLOSED. FOR NO APPARENT REASON. Hugely disappointing. Since my Uber had already sped off, I grabbed an iced coffee at Starbucks (my other love) and used their wifi to find a new acai spot. Cue La Juiceria.

As soon as I saw this sign, I knew I was in the right place.

Goodness Greens by La Juiceria offers two bowls: Acai Berry Bowl, and the Pittaya Bowl. I opted for the acai, because #duh. The bowls both come with the same topping offerings: cocoa nibs, granola, strawberries, bee pollen, coconut, and chia seeds. Solid topping offerings, I must say. I asked for no bee pollen, but was served a bowl with pollen. The language barrier is real, so I wasn't upset about it. These things happen.

The bowl itself was pretty small, but oh man was it delicious. I was devastated when I finished eating it, and honestly considered getting a second one. (I didn't, but it was a super close call). However, the size of the bowl made for a fantastic smoothie:topping ratio, which more than made up for it.

The smoothie itself was a great texture, albeit a little runny. As said, there could have been more of it to add some volume to the bowl. The toppings were delish - the granola is actually one that I had been snacking on for most of my visit, which I was already a huge fan of. (I've been trying to find them online, but can't - sorryyy).

Banana rating: 8/10

Would I go back: the moment I'm back in Malaysia (hopefully sooner rather than later).
